Team USA!

Happy Olympics, everyone! Have you been watching? I caught some of the swimming while I was at the gym. That's my favorite event, as I hold swimming near and dear to my heart. I swam in college and we were undefeated!...not much thanks to me, but it was an honor to be part of that and it's amazing watching these men and women represent our country in a battle of strength, endurance, guts and a whole lotta heart! May the blogs be EVER in their favor.

You're all gonna kill me for this....

SO as of a few weeks ago, I have been kicking some major ass in my gym routines and running! The downfall? Night snacking. I am a terrible night snacker. Hi, I am Niki and I have a problem. The good news? 1) I recognize that I have a problem and they say that's the first step 2) I have a very real goal in mind (Vacation!) and I will not let the devil on my shoulder talk me into giving in to my cravings/boredom anymore!
Here are some steps I'm taking to reach my goal:
*I've made a poster of what I want to achieve and I put it on my door. When I get hungry at night, if I actually do get up to go to the kitchen, I have to come face to face with my goal and ask myself if those extra calories are worth it.
*I bought a dress for one of the events I'll be participating in on my vacation. I have it displayed proudly on a hanger in my room. It's very sparkly and hard to miss. Whenever I look at it, I think to myself how gorgeous it is and I want to look gorgeous along with it... I couldn't bear to embarrass it!
*If I hear my stomach growling, I will look over my workout plan for the next day to keep my mind on my goal and keep my brain occupied. Night snacking is more mental and boredom than anything.

I hope this helps any of you who suffer as I do! In time this will get easier for all of us and we can stop waking up feeling as though there is a brick in our stomachs! Instead, our tummies shall feel like a brick! ;)

  Stay beastly,
  Niki

Do work!

What are your fitness goals? Why do you have them? How bad do you want to get there?

The other day, I started what I call the NO EXCUSES way of life. No matter how tired I am, no matter how cranky, no matter how menstrual I may be (Don't cringe! It sucks and you hate yourself/everyone hates you and you just want choooooocolate!), I WILL work out at least 5 days a week (usually 7) and I WILL eat well and I WILL see results.
What are your obstacles? Time? Cravings? Is someone telling you that you can't? YOU CAN.
Just remember, the best things in life take real work. That sounds kind of terrible and it will be sometimes, but there are a million ways to work out. You can find your thing and when you do, run with it!

Soooo what are you waiting for? Get started!!!

CAN'T AFFORD A GYM MEMBERSHIP?
You can workout anywhere! Even from your own home. Try Beachbody products and check out all of their different in-home workouts. They have Insanity, P90X, Turbo Jam and soooo many more. There is literally a workout for every single person with a fitness goal. Go to teambeachbody.com/nicolewebber to find one that is right for you, and together we will get you to the level of health you aspire to.

DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK OUT?
So many people go to their gyms and only use the cardio machines. 40 minutes on the elliptical is great, but it won't necessarily get you where you want to be. Want to have a sick bod and don't know how to use weights? Use. The. Internet. I am so serious. There are so many fitness websites with videos on how to do exercises. Even youtube. You can see how to use proper form. OR most gyms offer a free consultation with a personal trainer. Ask questions. They will help you figure out which weights to use and tell you how to use them. If you can, try working with one/bring a workout buddy. It's easier with someone pushing you. You can even ask me questions through the comments section!

DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EAT?
Since I am not a nutritionist, I can't tell you what to eat. But I CAN tell you that cookies, chips, anything with trans fats, soda and fast food tend to be a bad idea ;) If you give those things up for a month and try to consume them again, you may just feel sickly. Next time you eat McDonalds, see how long it takes before your feel hungry again. Do the same after you eat a healthy meal. You may find that you were hungrier more quickly after the McDonalds... and that is because your body didn't get what it needed from the meal and wants you to take in more food until you get there. Don't waste your calories on crap! Plus, you don't need the sweets... you're sweet enough without them!

Stay well, my beasts!
